All Three Redingtons

The Redingtons are three separate small towns lined up along Gulf Boulevard between Madeira Beach and Indian Shores: Redington Beach, North Redington Beach and Redington Shores. Ready 2 Mow serves all three. They're among the closest beach communities to Seminole, only a few miles across the Intracoastal, so they fit easily into my regular schedule.

These are small towns. Redington Shores, for example, covers only about 1.19 miles along Gulf Boulevard, according to the town. Homes range from beach houses and cottages to houses on quiet residential streets back from the Gulf, and many yards are compact. With yards like these, careful work matters more than big machines. I trim around fences, pavers, shell and rock beds, and tight side yards by hand where needed.

Yard Care While You're Away

The Town of Redington Shores notes that, beyond its year-round residents, several thousand more people spend all or part of the winter there. If you're a seasonal resident, or you're away for a few weeks at a time, an overgrown yard is the last thing you want to come home to, and it's what neighbors notice first. Beach Yards: Sand, Salt and Sun

Like the other Gulf beach towns, the Redingtons have sandy soil and salt in the air. UF/IFAS Extension notes that St. Augustine grass tolerates salt spray relatively well, which is one reason it's so common on the beaches. Sandy soil drains and dries out quickly, though. I mow at the height recommended for your grass and raise it during dry stretches, which helps beach lawns hold up between rains.
