Every mowing visit is a full mow, edge and blow, not just a quick pass with the mower:

• String trimming around fences, beds, trees, mailboxes and other spots the mower can't reach
• Blowing clippings off the driveway, walks, porch and street edge
• A quick once-over for sticks, fronds or debris, which get picked up and hauled away

Mowing St. Augustine Grass the Right Way

Most lawns around Seminole are St. Augustine grass, the most common lawn grass in Florida. It's a wide-bladed grass that looks best and stays healthiest when it isn't cut too short. University of Florida IFAS Extension recommends mowing standard St. Augustine varieties like Floratam at about 3.5 to 4 inches. Dwarf varieties are the exception and are kept lower.

Cutting at that height helps the grass grow deeper roots, shade out weeds and handle dry spells. UF/IFAS also advises removing no more than a third of the blade in one mowing and raising the height a bit in shady spots or during drought. That's why I set the deck for your lawn instead of scalping every yard at the same height. Bahia, Zoysia and other grasses get the height that suits them.

How Often to Mow in Pinellas County

Our grass grows all year, just at different speeds:

• Summer growing season: weekly mowing. Warm weather and summer rain make St. Augustine grow fast, and skipping a week often means cutting off too much at once.
• Cooler months: every one to two weeks. Growth slows in the cooler, drier part of the year, so many yards can stretch the time between cuts.

I'll suggest a schedule based on how fast your yard actually grows, and we can adjust it as the seasons change.

Recurring Schedules

Most customers choose a recurring schedule, weekly or every other week, so the yard never gets away from them. You get a set day, the same person every visit, and a text if rain pushes things back. One-time mows are available too, for example before a party, a home sale, or after you've been out of town.
